In honor of our eight year anniversary, Brian and I plus the girls went on an overnight to our favorite California city, San Luis Obispo. It is such a quaint town I can't say enough good things about it! If you visit California, go to SLO! We make it a priority to stay/eat at Apple Farm and Madonna Inn. We actually have gone every year for our anniversary minus the years Kinsey and Brielana were born (2011 and 2014) and last year.
Warning this is pretty much all pictures from here on out.
A gorgeous Monarch. I was pretty much the butterfly paparazzi trying to take this guys picture.
Every flower we passed Brielana just had to smell it.
So front porch sittin.
With my best girls.A little game of checkers. Also, cutest board and pawns ever.
Eating dinner at Madonna Inn. Everything is decorated with pink and gold and twinkly lights. I'm not even kidding. It's like my paradise ;)
We found this beauty after dinner. The girls were smitten. So was I.Her name is Lady Madonna.
Back at the room for bed time. The girls had their own room "suite".
And mama got to enjoy some refreshment.
Morning snuggles and selfies.
This beauty of a hydrangea.
And then we discovered this cutie downtown and I nearly died. Apparently the city of SLO has a cow parade and about 100 of these painted cows are scattered all over town! Each cow was painted by a different artist and depict scenes from the city and state. How. Freaking. Cool. If I had known about this I would have dedicated an entire day to walking/driving around to spot them all.
At the Mission. (That guys bright blue suede pants, ha!)
And then we headed home! It was a quick overnight but so enjoyed! Such a wonderful way to celebrate us. Until I realized, Brian and I took zero pictures together. Oops. Guess there's always next year.
Another item checked off the Fall Fun List!
What a great trip. I love the cow photos. A town near where I grew up had a parade of elephants and at college there was a parade of pigs. It's so fun to see all the different ways they are decroated. The girls look so happy to be enjoying a night away with Mom and Dad. :)
ReplyDeleteThose cows are so neat! The talent that goes into that is simply amazing! What a fun night away!
ReplyDeletePS About pictures with just your husband, I totally get that. Luke & I hardly have any pictures of just the two of us anymore, unless it is an unwilling selfie on Luke's part. haha! Over the weekend, we had family pictures & we got a few of just the two of us. It was the best decision ever!
DeleteBaha ha! That photo comment totally cracked me up and sounds just like something we would do. You need to start training Kinsey to take photos now girl :P.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun little trip! Looks like an amazing town!
ReplyDeleteI have a friend that moved to Texas from CA and she went to college in San Luis Obispo. And another friend of mine had her bach party there and they stayed at the Madonna Inn. Random, but thought I would share. Haha. Beautiful pictures! Butterflies are so hard to get pictures off. Yours turned out great! I hope you all had an amazing time!!
ReplyDeleteHa! So funny that it was an anniversary trip and you forgot to take a picture together :p Looks like a great trip though!
ReplyDeleteThere's a town in NJ we drive through on our way to philly and sesame place that has cows just like this all over. We have so much fun spotting them on our drive through :). And your hotel looks pretty darn perfect!
ReplyDeleteAnd now I need to convince Scott that we need to go to SLO, ASAP! Every place you went to looks so adorable. And, the girls had their own room? Well played!
ReplyDeleteHow fun!! The last town we lived in had painted bears all over the place. Not nearly as many as SLO has cows though. You guys managed to find so many! And that hotel is darling. It looks like a home.
ReplyDeleteWhat an absolute blast!! And you are just the cutest girls around.
ReplyDeleteLove that you took the girls on an anniversary trip! What a special way to celebrate your family and how it all began!
ReplyDeleteHaha! Kind of funny that you and Brian didn't take any pictures together and it was your anniversary but you'll always have the memories! Looks and sounds like the best time! So fun you guys got to celebrate with the girls this year!
ReplyDeleteHave you ever stayed at the Madonna Inn? We stopped there a couple times on road trips and I collected post cards of some of the rooms (lol post card collection) and they all looked SO COOL.
Those cows are awesome! And what a super fun getaway, I love all the pictures!!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I love visiting SLO, we stayed at the apple farm and it's so much fun. And pretty much always take a stop at the Madonna Inn for a restroom break when we're driving up North. :)
