Let me preface this post with a little background story. I have wanted a kimono since forever. Like 2014, just-had-Brielana, forever. Pretty sure that was also the height of the kimono craze but I digress. It's been a long time coveted closet item and let me tell you, it's been totally worth the wait.
Did I mention I'm picky about my clothes? I can look at a dozen (but probably more) different styles of one thing, appreciate an attribute but not buy it until THEE one grabs my attention and won't let go. Maybe I have a thing for slow fashion. Maybe I like delayed gratification. Whatever it is, just know that when I buy something and commit to something, its because I LUV it.
That being said, five years later, I have finally found the kimono of my dreams. Enter this beauty from the women's boutique PinkBlush. That drape! That floral print! Those colors! Love, love, love.
And because I've have plenty of time thinking up ways I would wear this item, I've got four different outfits for you all featuring my new kimono!
Look #1 Maxi dress + kimono = Casual Date Night
Who doesn't love an easy, effortless look for a summer date night? Two pieces and you're ready to go? Yes, please! I tied up the front hem for a little bit of interest and to break up the long lines and there you have it. Adding a bold lip would also work but I'm not that kinda girl ;)
Look #2 Graphic tee + kimono + ripped skinnys + chucks = Mom life
Let's be honest here, most days I'm home with the kids but if we need to run an errand, it'd be in this combo. I would live in my chucks if wearing socks wasn't such a chore in this heat, haha. Can we also talk about how perfect this lavender color matches?! I love that everything is comfy but the kimono adds a soft, feminine touch to an otherwise basic outfit.
Look #3 Tank top + button fly high waisted jeans + ballet flats = Sunday Brunch
I will be wearing this combo to church. The button fly detail looks so cute on display and the pale pink ballet flats make the floral pattern pop. Add a straw hat to up the ladies-who-lunch vibe.
Look #4 Overalls + kimono + birks = Farmer's Market
Seriously, this combo ended up being my favorite. It was so comfortable! I have had a hard time pulling out my overalls even though I absolutely adore them. Once I realized wearing a tank top underneath doesn't look horrible and feels really good, it opened up a new world of overall fashion for me. Grab a knit bag and you're the golden girl of the Farmer's Market.
So there you have it! One piece, four ways! You just can't go wrong wearing any of these outfits! And I'll be wearing them all summer long! If you doubt that statement I should tell you, I've already worn this kimono three times since I got it- last Wednesday. I hope you'll check out Pinkblush, it's not just for maternity clothes!

You seriously are the cutest! I love all of the ways you have paired this beautiful kimono!
ReplyDeleteI love that look on you!
ReplyDeleteHappy summer,
Kippi
Cute! My favorite is the third look. The pattern of the kimono pops more with the solid white, plus I love the buttons on those jeans
ReplyDeleteThat kimmono is co pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love all the looks... but the graphic tee might be my favorite one! ;)
