Ingredients:
1 cup white flour
1/4 cup salt
2 T cream of tartar
1 cup water
1 T vegetable oil
2 t orange food coloring (this can vary due to how deep a color you want. I used less but wish I had used more. It looks like pie dough but the bright orange would have looked better, sigh.)
1 TBSP pumpkin pie spice (You can always add more depending on how strong you want the playdough to smell.)
Extra flour for kneading
Mix all the ingredients and heat over medium high, stirring constantly. It will come together very quickly and when all the water and dry mix is incorporated and balls up together, its done!
Roll it out onto the floured surface and knead. CAUTION as it will be hot. As a precaution I refrigerate the playdough overnight in a ziplock bag before playing with it (I had a random mold incident once and it has scarred me for life. Yuck.)
Enjoy! And though it IS edible, I wouldn't take a bite if I were you :)
That smell!!!
What a fun idea for play doh! I've made play doh before, but never thought to add some fun things to make it smell good! We might have to give this a try for those afternoons that seem never ending. ;)
ReplyDeleteI made Aria pumpkin spice play dough last year! It was such a hit. She loved to eat it. She hated the taste and made a disgusted face, but apparently it smelled too good to resist doing it over and over...shrug.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up this week!
Yes! We did the same one! Hallie couldn't stop smelling it!
ReplyDeleteK, this is the year I finally attempt making my own play dough. I bet that smells delicious! Love that last picture. So cute :)
ReplyDeleteOh wow! I love this. I am going to have to do this with Mason. Thanks for sharing!!!
ReplyDeleteI never thought of making scented play-doh! I must try this!
ReplyDeleteI am totally making this tomorrow! Do you just throw it out when you're done or how do you store it?
ReplyDeleteLOVE THIS!
That smell would definitely make me want to eat this!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, how cute is she smelling the playdoh! I don't even like pumpkin spice (lattes - why do I only equate pumpkin with PSLs? lol. I like pumpkin bread!) and this sounds super fun and good smelling. Believe it or not, we don't have any playdoh (the horror), but I may have to try this!
ReplyDeleteI have a secret.... I hate playdoh!!! But Liam loves it, so perhaps I should make some with the motivation of sweet pumpkin smells!
ReplyDeleteTrue life confession..... I have never made homemade play-dough for my kids. Dum, dum, DUM!!!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe I should fix this?
I'll definitely have to make this for my son. He would love it!
