Halloween in the Classroom // For the Love of Learning

It's the second installment of For the Love of Learning with Jess and we are sharing our classroom Halloween decorations! Now, both our schools don't permit Halloween themes as in mystical creatures and scary concepts but that doesn't mean we can't get creative and still have the feel of Halloween present!

I like to go heavy on the pumpkins and light on the spiders (which I haven't even shared yet with my class- next week!) so be prepared for pumpkin palooza.

These cute little erasers were a Target Dollar Spot purchase.
We did a leaf curriculum at the begin of October and I couldn't not share it. We went on a Nature walk around the school grounds and collected leaves. I tried labeling/naming all the leaves we found but didn't recognize a few (any leaf whiz's out there?) Then we used the leftover leaves in a collage- you can't tell from this picture but they are glued onto a tree form.
My favorite way to learn, through reading!!

We painted pumpkins and then the paint decided to flake (DONT use tempura paint) but they still look so cute sprinkled throughout the room.
I added Halloween stickers to the Writing Center and added some paper pumpkins the kids can cut out also practicing fine motor skills.

Our easel is cranking out pumpkins like crazy! **Did you notice them hanging around the window and trellis display?**
And my favorite pumpkin threaders (click to go to DIY post)
And added some googly eyes to the collage materials for free art.
And the last touch, felt pumpkins (click to go to DIY post) in the water table.
Thanks for visiting!

  4. I love that you decorate for the holidays. I know teachers that don't because of the extra work. When are you able to make the changes in your decor? Do you have a free hour or do you do it before/after or on the weekends?

  10. Your room is so cute!! And Pumpkin Palooza - love it!
We haven't tried threading, but I have a feeling it's something Marcus would love. I need to get on that. I could see that being a great quiet activity while Julia naps in the afternoons.

  11. I'm pretty sure I'll be saying this for every classroom post you do, but I want to come hang out in your classroom! Crafting would be much more fun if someone else laid out all the supplies and did most of the cutting.

  12. Love all the pumpkins! And love the leaves on the tree prints, that's so cute. Lame about the flaking paint. I think we use crayola finger paint when Aria paints a pumpkin...I think. Didn't flake though!
