Counting calories makes me hangry and other dieting woes

Or alternatively titled The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly of weight loss. I'll let you decide what category each falls under ;)
Keep Calm I can't I'm dieting
The smell of raw broccoli makes me mad. Why is it so stinky?!

Give me all the garlic powder.

Water will forever be my best friend. Even if I pee 278,943 times a day.

This challenge had nothing to do with losing weight and everything to do with changing my eating habits. I have a massive sweet tooth and a snacking tendancy. I cut out all sweets and mostly all sugars minus what was in my peanut butter and yogurt. And snacks were healthy, whole foods (apples, smoothies, celery) instead of crackers or chips.

Day four gets me twisted every. Time. That is my hangriest day and man it feels good to get past it.

Have cheat days to save your sanity. I gave myself two every week but still tracked my calories.

The number on the scale doesn't define me. I actually stepped on it for the first time in a year just to document this challenge. And it was the same as last year. Now, I know my weight fluctuated during that year but my biggest indicators of how I carry weight is 1) how my clothes fit and 2) how I feel. A number on a scale gives me neither of those validations and usually just makes me feel worse. After a month of dieting, I lost 1 pound.

I will never like working out. Walking the dog and wrangling the girls is my extent of physical exertion. I think I was ruined by the gym at 17 when an ex boyfriend made me go when he had the weight problem and that did wonders on my self esteem.

Doing something like this is so much more rewarding when friends do it too. Misery loves companionship, I mean moral support is key ;)

I can only eat chicken so many days in a row before dying a little inside.

  1. You go girl! Those meals look so yummy! I don't like working out either. I'd much rather just play outside or go on walks than work out. Ha ha!

  4. I used to LOVE working out (like borderline obsessed), but just can't get into it since Mila's been born. I feel like I either need to spend my free time playing with her or sleeping. Luckily (I think?), Mila never ever stops going, so I get my fair share of activity! Those meals all look so amazing. And now I'm hungry.

  10. You have done so well!!! Dieting is hard stuff. I'm trying to eat healthier, cut out carbs and drink more water until our big vacation in July. Ugh! So hard.

  12. I am on day 8 of no dairy, no soda, no coffee and can I tell you that I thought I was going to die at day 6? But here I am, a survivor :)

I love how you are looking at all components, not just a number on a scale.
