What Kinsey Wore: utility vest + stripes

As the weather is finally getting its act together and feeling like fall (maybe a little more winter than I would prefer- I'm a fickle person when it comes to weather.  Hello, that's why we live in California!) we are adding more layers to our outfits and I'm trying to convince Kinsey vests are functional and comfortable.

She has yet to be persuaded but at least she kept it on.  Slow and steady wins the race.
Be prepared to see a lot more vests in the coming weeks ;)  You know, because if you don't use it, you lose it.  And that's the last cliche of this post, promise!

Stripe top: GapKids
Vest: Old Navy
Moto Jeans: Old Navy
Boots: American Eagle, gifted

My Favorite Things: Christmas Wish List

I am s-l-o-w-l-y getting into the Christmas spirit (because Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and it's sadly overshadowed) but I have to say putting together my wish list and feeling that little nip in the air is getting me excited.  And I won't mention I may have started a few Christmas crafts... ;)
Christmas Wish List for her

The Pillowtalk Tank Pajama- I love Victoria Secret's pajamas and wouldn't mind a new pair since splitting the seat of my favorite pair a couple of weeks ago (and yes, I'm still wearing them hole and all!)
Mama & Little - Audrey Silicone Teething Necklace- I always end up with a soaking wet drool puddle on my shoulder so I'm hoping this stylish teething necklace will help combat soar gums and a soggy shoulder.  Plus it will already elevate my accessorizing from nothing to something (besides the wedding ring, of course.)
Tassel scarf-  You can never have too many scarves, and this is the sweetest color and the tassels are to die for!
Essie Chinchilly and Mochachino- I'm hoping to up my nail polish game and these are great neutrals.
Moccasin Slippers- Leopard print slippers are my jam.  Add in the moccasin style and I'm sold.
Rampage boots- I've been coveting a brown riding boot and with the Macy's sale going on (two days only, ladies!) I can't pass up $24.99!  Maybe I'll be gifting these to myself hehe...
Quilted Vest- California weather has been all kinds of crazy this year, so a lightweight vest is a great layering piece.

3 + 4 Month Favorites

3rd and 4th Month Favorites baby products

3rd and 4th Month Favorites by work-it-mommy on Polyvore

Play mat- Brielana gets down on her play mat (pun-ny, no?) to play, do tummy time, explore her world.  I like that its padded and has tabs to hang different toys in multiple locations.
OBall- This was one of her first real toys.  She can grasp it easily and likes to watch the beads move around and hear them rattle together.
Lamaze Kerry Fairy and Freddie Firefly- her second and third real toys.  The Fairy is so cute and Freddie has mutli-sensory attachments.
Bouncer Seat- when she's not on her playmate or in my arms, Brielana is reclining in her bouncer.  She will occasionally take quick naps in it too.
Mam- What I believe to be teething issues (or the beginning of teething issues) is soothed by sucking and or gumming on a pacifier.
Carrier Toy- This was a game- changer for car seat entertainment.  There is not nearly as much fussing now when traveling in the car or stroller.  She gets the most serious expression and really concentrates when hitting at these toys, its darling!

And I'm proud to say all of these, with the exception of the Mam's, are hand-me-downs from Big sister Kinsey and are in excellent used condition.  Saving us $$$ and being green in the process, score!

What Kinsey Wore: Matilda Jane Clothing

I am newly smitten with Matilda Jane Clothing!  I became a recent believer after seeing all the gorgeous and whimsical clothing all over Instagram and a certain blogger (Andrea at Momfessionals).

My first purchase netted me the Clever Fox Sweater and the Layered Ash Leggings- I know, I know- I totally played it safe and ordered none of the iconic prints-on-prints dresses or leggings!  But I was dipping my toe in the water, so to speak and now I'm ready for a full immersion :)

Here's how I paired them:
Layered Ash Leggings with a dress and tee.

Clever Fox Sweater with an orange and white polka dot tee, jeggings and booties.

And the even better news?!  I am hosting my own Trunk Show next weekend!!!
Sooo excited!

Mommy Problems: Who's underwear drawer is this?!

momlife, mom life

I was folding laundry the other day- I'm one of those people who actually like doing laundry BTW, and as I was folding my underwear (yes, I do that too) a thought struck me: who's underwear is this?!

Somehow in the blink of an eye I went from cute Victoria Secrets Pink hipster panties to full-fledged granny panties (and for the record, I loathe the word 'panties'- yuck!)  How did this happen?!

I guess it all began 3 years and 9 months ago when I pushed a baby out of my body. Low rise anything just isn't as cute after growing a human inside your skin. Am I right?!

And of course there's also a cost factor. Who has $10.50 to spare on a piece of fabric barely large enough to cover your bum when a six pack of cotton briefs for $8.99 seems more than adequate for the purpose?

I remember when I used to enhance my bust with fancy bras adorned with lace and bows and silk. Nowadays I just want them supported to the hilt and preferably with clips for easy nursing (oh so glamorous, I know.)

At this point in my life, because by now I've popped out another darling baby, who even has time to go shopping in a mall?! I remember a leisurely shopping trip complete with a lunch out and a Starbucks trip just to pass the time. Now I'm breaking  world records dashing through Target before anyone has a complete meltdown (and being honest, I'm usually the basket-case.)

So, as basic and dowdy as this top dresser drawer of mine is, it also nicely represents the passage of time from the teen me to newlywed me to Mommy me. It is the perfect metaphor of mommyhood. It is where I have been and where I am now. I wonder what my underwear will be saying about me 10 years from now. Maybe they will be surprising, who knows? But they will definitely tell where I was going and what I was doing in that moment. And that is pretty amazing, considering all they do is cover my bum.
