A Thanksgiving Prayer

Happy Thanksgiving!
For forests tall and oceans deep
For canyons wide and mountains steep
For sunset skies of pink and gold
For every sunrise we behold
For Winter's snow and springtime's thaw
For Summer's warmth and Autumn's awe
For roofs that keep the rain away
For walls that hold it all at bay
For work that puts food on the table
For health and rest to keep us able
For friends and family around us
For years to come, may they surround us
For soldiers fighting for our peace
For days to come when wars may cease
For hope, so burdens won't enslave us
For thy forgiveness which will save us
For feast, and those with whom we share it
For loving hands that did prepare it
For all that makes this life worth living
We take this time on this Thanksgiving
To bow our heads and bend a knee
And pause to look around and see
For all that was, is, and shall be
We have none to thank, Oh Lord, but thee.

Announcing Simplifying the Season link up

When Justine sent me an email about her vision for Simplifying the Season I couldn't have agreed more wholeheartedly or with more enthusiasm! I love the purpose of this link up and know it will ring true with many of you, too. My most favorite things about this time of year are my family, faith and good food (haha) so this truly encompasses what the holidays are all about.
Whenever you would like during the series (11/21-12/26) write your own blog post inspired by #simplifyingtheseason. You could write a lifestyle piece about family holiday memories, whip up a family recipe, share tips about how you have simplified gift giving, reveal your favorite hack for keeping entertaining during the holidays simple... anything that can be tied back to the idea of simplifying and focusing on either family, traditions, or Christ. Then be sure to link up your post on December 26th!
I know this will be a wonderful link up and hope you will join Justine in Simplifying the Season!

Thanksgiving in the Classroom // For the Love Of Learning

Another month, another Classroom tour! It's November so we're sharing all things Thanksgiving in our classrooms! Thanks for joining Jess and me and if you want to see the last couple of months here are the links:

Turkey Tom. This guy's feathers is made from my student's hand prints. I love hand art because it really shows how little and how much kids grow in a year. I'll trace their hands again at the end of the year and paste these two side-by-side in their scrapbook. Makes me emotional. Every. Year.
Our Autumn Sensory Table. I've included fake leaves, pom poms, vase filler pumpkins and plastic acorns (all purchased at Michael's over the years) and ice cube trays for sorting.
Feather Painting is my favorite project during Thanksgiving. It gives the kids a tickle to use something other than paint brushes and leaves a different pattern on the paper. No fancy equipment required, just tempura paint, paper and a feather needed!

And our Thanksgiving books!

We are baking pies for the Church's elderly and shut-ins tomorrow to show that service to others is important.

Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving week!
