Mom Life Lately

Thank you to Figure 8 Maternity for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own. It has been six months since I've been a mama x3 and it tickles me when I hear, "you have your hands full" or "how do you do it?" and another favorite "I could never!" I think it comes down to perspective (yes, you could do it if they are your children) and experience (I was gifted these babies by God and try my best to be the mother they deserve. On the flip side, one of my good friends is expecting her fourth baby and I think, "how can you do it all?!" haha.) You do what you are called to do! Affiliate links used. In this busy season of life I find that I am actually more energized than I have been in a long time. I guess I've hit my stride. Clark isn't sleeping the whole night through, neither is Brielana for that matter, and yet I wake up ready for the day (if not still slightly groggy.) And I wonder, what is so different this time around?

In January I decided to declutter and from that time on I have gotten rid of 10 bags and a couple of boxes to Goodwill, several bags to our Children's Consignment shop, recycled and trashed useless items and started to clean the house from top to bottom. Clearing out the unnecessary stuff has left space for me to breath again and really has energized my soul.

Another habit I've implemented has been to wake up 15 minutes earlier in the morning to get my daily devotional time in with God. It improves my attitude and really starts the day off right. Refocusing on true importance is refreshing.

Having this time with my babies at home is such a gift. There are some days we may watch too much TV or not get out of our PJs or eat sub-par (Cheet-os and fruit snacks, anyone?) but I want to embrace these little years as they are all too fleeting.

Take nursing for example. I have dedicated five years to this endeavor and it still is one of my all time favorite ways to nourish and bond with my children. It reminds me to take a few simple minutes every few hours to sit down, cuddle and just be; all while holding my most precious of bundles close. I have to add concealed side zippers on nursing tops are genius. No more frumpy cross-front tees for this mama!

So, if you were to ask, "how's motherhood treating you?" I would say wholeheartedly, "it is treating me so well!" (Never 'good', we all know that's not correct, right?! haha) And that's the truth.

  3. Love love love! I need to go through and downsize my closet a little bit. All the choices can be too much.
