Have you ever heard the quote, Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans? Well, I say "motherhood is happening between the diaper changes, getting the billionth snack and kissing the imaginary booboo." It may even be defined by those things.
This is the seventh Mother’s Day I have the honor of celebrating and the first with all three of our babes together and it has me feeling overly blessed and a touch nostalgic.
As I reflect on Mother’s Days past the one that stands out most to me is
Mothers Day 2010; it was our second year of marriage and Brian and I were sitting in church.
Ironically, neither of us were celebrating the holiday with our moms but instead felt compelled to go to service to listen to our pastor interview his mom.
It wasn't the sermon that stuck with me all these years but the prayer that was on my heart; with tears in my eyes I fervently prayed for a baby of our own. Just four months prior I had surgery to remove my left ovary and tube due to an enlarged cyst which made me doubt my own body. You can read more about my journey to motherhood. The pleas I lifted up were from the depths of my soul.
One month later I found out I was expecting. I know it wasn't by chance that we found ourselves in those pews that day eight years ago.
This day is never about the gifts my children give me but ultimately the gifts that are my children.
I'm joining some other lovely mom's sharing their hearts in celebration of motherhood! You can read their contributions by clicking on the links below:
