Thankful

Not only does Thanksgiving have the best food but it also lends its self to teaching littles the importance of being thankful for all of life's blessings. Last year I started our thankful banner, a simple decoration with a big message; I would write down what Kinsey and I were thankful for during the week and add it to our banner by way of tiny clothespins.

This year I wanted to keep that same tradition but redo the banner. I had high hopes of making a tree with branches to hang our thanks from but couldn't find the right "look" and got a little caught up in the search, making it a nuisance. So, maybe next year?

I do like the updated banner, I reused the gold glitter card stock letters by gluing them onto index cards that I cut triangles from and hole punched. I used these craft leaves to write our thankful messages on and will use them as table scatter on Turkey Day. My favorite so far is "I love Daddy, he cleans up my stuff" or maybe this gem stolen from Despicable Me 2, "You kiss my boo boos and braid my hair" even though it is true, haha!

  1. What a gorgeous reminder of Thanksgiving! I love your banner! I also have high hopes of making a tree, but it hasn't happened yet.

  2. Great ideas! We did a banner on the side of the fridge that said "Give Thanks" and then I cut out individual leaves. I put them on the dinner table or when guests come and have people write what they're thankful for on the leaves then I hang those up under the banner.

Such a beautiful month of gratitude.

Thanks for joining the Tuesday Talk link up!

  3. Love the way that turned out. The gold really pops against the white. And the leaves will be such a sweet reminder on the table on Thanksgiving :)

  6. omg! I've been trying to teach Lily about being thankful and what that truly means... She usually just states items she likes. This is a great way for her to pick up on that concept a bit easier! We have a few days left! I'm gonna do it! Thanks for sharing. :)

  8. I love this idea! Duh a great learning tool. We've been reading a thanksgiving book at bedtime and the last two nights cam has been thankful for me and his family. Oh melt my heart sweet boy!

  9. I LOVE this idea and I love the gold on your banner! I'm a sucker for gold lol. But in all seriousness, I saw someone else do a tree (maybe Momfessionals?) and love the idea. I think I might try it when Mason is a little older, or at least can talk and tell me what he's thankful for.

  11. What a fabulous banner (the glitter letters!) with such a great reminder during this season. Love the use of the craft leaves to write messages, and then reuse later!

  12. Love! I have that stored away for another year when Aria gets it a bit more. I think next year would probably be good. She's getting it somewhat this year. I like the tree with branches thing.
