I am the mom of littles who don't like to sleep. There. I said it. A huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Its almost ridiculous how little sleep I myself personally sustain on for the first few years of each of my babies lives. Like, I'm surprised I haven't been committed. I kid, I kid (sorta)

So, all of this to say is, I get the struggle and I also have a few tried and true tricks up my sleeve to help in any small way to induce and sustain sleep in my household and I want to share them with you!
And if your'e here for the giveaway, that's at the end, so scroll down if that's your thang.

Turn off bright lights |
I start bedtime 30 minutes before anyone is actually in bed. I turn off all overhead lights, use a table lamp and since its Christmas time, there's also a colorful string of lights in the girls room right now.  I turn down the covers, get stuffies in their rightful places and have waters by the beds. I also turn on the diffuser (we use these ones).

Breathe Deep |
I use a combination of essential oils at bedtime to set the mood. Some calming lavender + frankincense with a touch of sweet orange is diffusing at the moment. And I also use roll-ons (prediluted and mixed) on feet, spines and wrists. I turn off the diffuser after bedtime story and apply the roll-ons before tucking kiddos into bed.

Roll with it |
Calming the Child and Nighty Night  both have lavender in it to promote sleep. But if for some reason your child doesn't respond well to lavender, there's Sweet Dreams and Sweet Slumber.

Chew on this |
Before brushing teeth, we give one Natural Vitality Calming Gummie to the girls. The magnesium packed gummies help to relax and calm the muscles of the body without any negative side effects. These gummies have become so popular as of late that there's a new factory being built just to keep up with supply and demand! We’ve had luck purchasing from CVS (in-store) but they are carried at Whole Foods and Amazon as well.

Listen here |
We have always used a sound machine in our children’s rooms. The white noise really helps to keep them asleep vs without one so this has been the no-brainer from day one. (Brian is the one who introduced me to this magic sound once we got married and falling asleep really happens so much quicker!) We use the AuCuTee white noise machine for several reasons: the sleek design, the dual sound levels and running time (continual or timed, always choose continual!!) and ease of adjusting noise levels (just twist the shell!)

  1. I can not live without my oils these days. They have really helped C at night. He is sleeping more and more soundly. It's glorious.

  2. We've always done white noise in the boys' rooms since birth. I think it helps a lot and it's easy to use an app on our phone for white noise if we're not at home too!

  3. I've never used a sound machine but I'd love to give it a try!

  4. We have a fan in our kids rooms, but a sound machine would be great to try!
