Last year I was on the hunt for a utility vest after coveting them from afar; Meghan was so helpful in tracking one down for me (which I got for a deal from Talbotts) and we laughed about doing a fashion blog hop showcasing our vests. Well, when she earnestly asked months later I was more than eager to join in on the fun! Affiliate links used. A small commission may be received if you purchase an item through my links. Layers are key in my part of California because we don't usually have full blown seasonal weather but the proximity to the ocean gives us a foggy and cool climate during our "Fall". I pretty much layer every day (see this post for more examples) so I was in my element with these outfit. I also have a little treat for you at the end of this post, so stick with me!
Plaid is the print of fall, isn't it? And this plaid button down is my favorite right now, all the colors are beautiful together! I normally wouldn't have paired this with the colored jeggings but the extra pop of color is really pretty so I'm glad I did.
Again with the plaid! Everything in this outfit is basic but the scarf dresses it up. I wore this on Sunday and was cozy all day.
If I was to label this outfit it would be "date night casual" (is that a thing?) It's part dressy part casual and totally fall!
dress (old) // boot socks (similar) // boots
This is my favorite outfit of the bunch. I pretty much bought the gingham button down just so I could wear it with my favorite owl sweater (which I purchased to wear specifically for Kinsey's owl-themed 2nd Birthday party back in 2013.)
And the top-down view.
Now for the treat- as I was gathering pictures for this post I randomly came across these darling pictures of Kinsey rocking her utility vest back in 2014! I can only hope to look as cute as she does in her vest #lifegoals
white jeans and with stripes!
Look familiar? ;)
And that's all I got! Don't forget to check out these other fashionable ladies to see how they styled their utility vests!:

Girl, you are so adorable!! I LOVE your style and how you did your different outfits with the vest. Wanna go shopping together? I want a vest so badly, but want to find one a bit cheaper than Gap. Kinsey looks so stinking adorable in her vest. OMG, please tell me Brielana will get to wear it.
ReplyDeleteI love all your outfits! Seriously, you are the queen of layering! You manage to do it without it looking bulky at all! If I had to choose, the first outfit is my favorite... I love the plaid with the purple pants. Though that owl sweater takes a very close second! And could Kinsey be any cuter!?! I agree, Brielana has to wear it!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to bust out a plaid shirt with mine. You look adorable, totally the queen of layering for sure! I think my favorite outfit is the first one too!
ReplyDeleteHow incredibly CUTE are you Whitney! And look at darling Kinsey! You wear a military vest something fierce girl! I am a sucker for it with that Owl sweater I'm gonna have to remember that, and with the plaid it is simply spectacular! Cute, cute, cute! Make sure you come link up the looks today and from yesterday too, 2 link ups going on.
ReplyDeleteLove love love the owl sweater and gingham top with your vest! And I love that the three of you coordinated this blog post together! Thinking I need one of these vests now!
ReplyDeleteYou are so adorable! I love the vest paired with plaid. I think the outfit with the scarf may be my favorite. It’s hard to decide because they are all great. And Kinsey in her vest! Oh my word. PRECIOUS! Now I have so many ideas on how to wear my vest. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI love these looks. I am so excited that the weather is flannel weather lately!
ReplyDeleteLove a utility vest so much!!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteLove em all!! You're the queen of layering :)
ReplyDeleteI love each look. I can't wait to mimic them!
ReplyDeleteOk, seriously, Kinsey in her vest too?! I die.
ReplyDeleteBut serious question... I tried to pair my chambray shirt with a sweat and it seemed super bulky and bunched up in the top shoulder area. Do I need to size up in the sweater or down in the shirt to do it right? Or maybe I just didn't pull it down all the way? I LOVE the look of the gingham under your sweater and would love to re-create with something I have in my closet!
Love your style! You are just adorable. I think I need a vest in my life now. I went with the jacket because Wisconsin, but I think I could do a vest even for the shortest of time in fall & spring. Now, where to find one??
ReplyDeleteLoving each outfit!! And, I cannot tell you how envious I am that you need layers!!
ReplyDeleteLet's also talk about tiny Kinsey!!
Such a cute vest and so versatile!
