In the midst of all the uncertainty during this current health scare we are facing I find myself searching for new activities to keep my kiddos engaged while learning. And I know I'm not alone in this endeavor (there's only so many showings of Frozen 2 one person can handle, amiright?!) I combed through my archives and gathered my favorite Preschool Activities that will best serve you and your child during these home bound times. My hope is you both have fun learning together!
This picture of Kinsey circa 2016 just slays me! |
Watermelon math will introduce the topic of fractions in a yummy way!
*bonus recipe*
Speaking of watermelon's here is a sweet treat that will go great with the above activity!
Letter Recognition
These sprouting letters are the perfect letter recognition activity just in time for Easter!
Alphabet Bingo, anyone? Print and play this classic game and help promote letter recognition while playing!
Fine Motor
Cutting play dough is a great way to strengthen those fingers for better fine motor manipulation.
Cutting straws is another good fine motor activity that also helps you use up those pesky plastic straws that don't play well in the environment.
Pom poms + tongs is a very Montessori- inspired activity. It looks pretty and it inspires fine motor manipulation.
Color Exploration is filed under fine motor due to the nature of the project. Using eye droppers to move the liquid watercolors (food coloring + water can also be used!) around the ice cube trays, it is a fantastic eye-hand coordination activity as well as a fine motor one.
Art
Got sidewalk chalk? Just add water and you've got yourself a mess-less painting project.
Animal Parade // painting with animal figurines is a new way to play with all those plastic toys.
Outdoor Activities
Tired of being cooped up inside? Take the learning out into your backyard.
Hopscotch is the perfect whole body activity combining large motor skills (balancing, jumping), fine motor skills (precision throwing of stone, hand-eye coordination) and math skills.
Crafting with nature is still a favorite activity at our house. Grab a basket and go wild collecting any natural objects that catch your fancy. Turn them into works of art. No wrong way to play!
My most popular post ever is this fun hummingbird garden.
I hope this roundup has been helpful! Be well out there!
These are such fun ideas! Thanks for sharing!
