I'm so happy to have Sarah guesting today! One of my favorite things is hearing about birth stories and Sarah is sharing both of her experiences. I am in awe of natural (no medical-intervention) births so this was amazing to read!
Hello Work It Mommy readers! Thank you Whitney for having me today for participating in the Mommylogue Series. I am a mom of 2, a boy (Baby Fox - 5.5) and a girl (Mini Fox - 3 weeks shy of 3).I was thinking about what I wanted to write about and decided to write about both of my birth experiences. My first one was typical; I went into early labor about 11am on Christmas Eve, and then labored through the night. I knew that I wanted to labor on my own for as long as possible because I knew once I got the epidural I would be bed ridden. I lasted until about 4:30am and the pain was too much so I asked for the epidural and was at 7cm. Phew, just in time, after 7cm, they don't give epidurals at our hospital. After the epidural it seemed to speed up my labor as I was at a 10 around 6:30am and ready to push. But Baby Fox had other plans, his heart rate was all over the place so I was really only "allowed" to push every 2-3 contractions to get his heart rate back up. Baby Fox was born at 7:19am on Christmas Day. I know, I never in a million years thought I would have a Christmas Baby. Our due date was early January, so it never crossed my mind I would go into labor early.

My Journey to Motherhood {Introduction to The Mommylogues Series}
This sounds so much like my birth experiences! I had an epidural the first time around with an early baby and natural the second time and was only at the hospital for 50 minutes before Emmy was born. Crazy!! Love birthday stories so much!
ReplyDeleteI know I can't get enough of them! Crazy how fast the second one comes!
DeleteOh my goodness this was so fun to read. Those littles are so cute and they always have the best family selfies. She should seriously give lessons :P.
ReplyDeletehehe, thanks! I was trying to figure out a way to do a lesson on Selfies...but it's hard taking a picture of you taking a selfie...LOL :) When I figure it out...
DeleteLoved hearing this story, Sarah!!
ReplyDeleteA Christmas baby, what a fun surprise! This is almost exactly like my birth stories too. Those second babies sure don't mess around when they're ready to come out.
ReplyDeleteFunny how those second ones don't want to wait, and her personality definitely matches the way she entered!
DeleteThanks for having me Whitney! It was so fun to share my stories!
ReplyDeleteWaiting too long to get to the hospital is like my worst nightmare. The first time my water broke so that was a nice big let's get to the hospital sign. This time I'm like I have no idea when to go!!! Thank goodness our hospital is just down the road.
ReplyDeleteLove how every birth story is so different! You rock :)!
ReplyDeleteGive me all the pain medicine. I mean... with a c-section it was needed of course but really, the idea of a no medicine frightens me on a level I don't even have words for.
ReplyDeleteI love hearing birth stories! I did one of each as well. Both by choice. First I did natural on top of getting induced. Second I went for the epidural. If there is ever a third, which there won't be, it would be epidural all the way! Lol
ReplyDeleteSo funny! I had a similar story with Henry that you did with Baby Fox and then the same thing happened with Wesley that happened with Mini Fox! Luckily I barely got to the hospital in time with Calvin to get an epidural, but man was I worried that I wouldn't be able to get one again!
ReplyDeleteYay! I love Sarah! I can’t believe how fast Mini Fox came! Wow. Sweet girl was ready to meet her mommy and daddy!! I love reading birth stories.
ReplyDeleteWow! Two pushes?!? Amazing!! Loved reading both stories!
